UVA has been to something like 28 straight NCAA Tournaments...
and in the College Cup 3 times in the past 9 seasons. I don't know how many players on UVA's team receives full scholarships (academic scholarship + partial athletic scholarship). UVA has an endowment of $14.5 Billion compared to Tech's $1.4 Billion. UVA regularly signs Top 40-100 players like UNC and Duke. I don't think Tech will ever be able to recruit at the same level as UVA, UNC, Duke and Notre Dame just based on resources. Tech needs to have superior player development than those schools to be able to move up to that highest tier. Tech needs to follow Florida State's plan. Their program was (is) built on international players and excellent coaching and player development. It's probably not that difficult to get international students to want to become scholar athletes at a school in warm and sunny Tallahassee. Chugger Adair does enough to keep his job. IMHO, he's an above average women's college soccer coach. Just when you think he's in danger of losing his job he gets his team to the NCAA playoffs. Adair has a relatively young team coming back but I agree with those who say replacing Emily Gray will be difficult. As for Gray, I feel like we never got to see how good she really good've been with her ACL injury (losing half of a season) and the somewhat disastrous Covid season. I wish she had another year to play because of those 2 unfortunate events during her career. I feel almost the same way about Nicole Kozlova too. She was slowed down by an ACL injury even before stepping on campus. It took her a little longer to overcome her injury than it did for Gray. Then you had her taking time off from the team during the season because she was representing the Ukraine. Hopefully Kozlova returns for her last year even though she probably graduates this spring.
