I think the CFP is going to highest ranked Conferences getting automatic

bids. So I think they will vote for no divisions to get their two highest ranked teams playing each other in the Conference Championship.Your rivalry scheduling will work nicely for that.

My guess is that they unanimously pass 8 team playoff and have 6 highest ranked Conference Champions and 2 at large. It’s not what the SEC/ND alliance want, but it’s better than staying at a 4 team playoff.
