He's the biggest name out there, and his hiring would actually be national news. His name alone would bring more notoriety and publicity to the program. VT needs relevance more than anything right now.

Not only that, the guy can recruit. The jury may still be out on what he can do as a head coach. He killed it at Houston, and did "ok" at Texas. I suspect there are deep issues at Texas since they haven't done anything in over a decade despite every advantage imaginable.
