You are right about the minimum wage compared to the rest of the world


At the same time, should cost of living play into what the minimum wage should be for a country? I would think for most countries, well western industrial countries, the minimum wage is in relation to the cost of living in that country.

Given that the cost of living in the US has a very large range depending on if you are living in Silicon Valley/the DMV which I believe are the top 2 locations with the highest cost of living vs. living in Grundy which may be close to the lowest cost of living location, then where should the minimum wage bet set at for the US? Based on the highest cost of living? Somewhere in the middle? Varying depending on the cost of living for a particular location? I guess I am wondering, purely from a economic standpoint, is if the US's high minimum wage is partially based on locations with the highest cost of living. If that is the case, then maybe that option is the lesser of however many evils.
