Because the vaccines are calibrated to produce enough antibodies

There's no assurance that you've been exposed to enough virus with an infection to be immune to another infection. They're recommending booster shots for both to rebuild their antibodies. Some are recommending the shots be 12 weeks apart.

I've been following Jayson Thomas and Jaylen Brown who were both unvaccinated and came down with Covid. The argument for a pro or college athlete is to get it so you don't get the side effects of extreme fatigue and shortness of breath that hinder your performance as well as exposing unvaccinated teammates who also will have to sit out.
