For instance, in 2019 Alonzo Gaffney was ranked 50th by 247. He played 6 min per game at Ohio State, transferred out and no one picked him up so he went to a JuCo last season and now he is with Arizona State.

I really liked Gaffney, but I liked him as a future prospect and not someone who was needed right away. It sounds like Ohio State liked him the same way. But alas, he felt he was better so he tried his hand on the market.

Meanwhile, in that same class, Alleyne was ranked 412th and Cattoor was ranked 511th. They were clearly ready earlier than Gaffney, even if they dont have the ceiling that he does. The rankings more often than not take into account how high someone's ceiling is rather than how good they are right now.

My point about not raking Lubin is that VT already has a project in the post, they cant afford 2. If you want to let Wessler go, then for sure take Lubin, hed be a great pickup in that context.

All that to say dont let a ranking tell you who is ready and who isnt.
