Somewhat similar story, so I'll give a shout to Ray's Maytag in C-burg

Washer was leaking and needed a replacement check valve. I could find them online for $30 or so, but really wanted it today as laundry was piling up and I just didn't want to go to the laundromat for the next week. Tried several places around town, no one had the part, until I got to Ray's.

He scrounged around a bit, didn't have a new part, but had a used one laying around. I asked how much, he kinda stared at his invoice pad, decided the paperwork wasn't worth it, and just said take it and keep us in mind in the future.
