Have you read about the trained professional?
She was scared she couldn't do her job. I don't know how hard it is to pick up a gun, look it over, load it with non-live rounds, and provide it to an actor.
From the reports I've read, the guns were uncontrolled on a cart and someone grabbed one and handed it to him. A decent armorer would maintain possession in a locked case where only they had the key. At the time the gun was needed, they'd pull it out, take it to the actor, check that it was clear, load it as necessary in front of the actor, and give a just in time brief on safe practices.
That didn't happen here. There's a good chance that with the background character that AB has he either intimidated the armorer or dissmissed her. Knowing that she was already self-conscious and the film was low-budget, they probably scrimped.
In the end a series event lead to the death of a mother, wife, and daughter. Tragic and something that could have EASILY been prevented with even the slightest bit of gun knowledge.
