Nope. The shooting range analogy isn't good, but I'd have the same opinion
regardless of who was behind the gun in the movie set situation.
It was a tragic accident, that if he had be properly trained and checked the gun when he first obtained it, would have been prevented. He has responsibility - ignorance of that required training is not an excuse.
