Nonsensical for head coach to keep job if he accepts a pay cut???

That sort of thing happens in real jobs.
Why not coaching jobs, which come with such high expectations?
It would provide a third option for teams like the Hokies.....

Option 1: Continue keeping overpaid coach for more time.
Option 2: Throw out coach, all supportive staffing and start over from scratch.

Now, we have....

Option 3: Coach takes performance based pay cut, which allows funds to improve staffing in areas it is needed.

I really don't think there is anything nonsensical about having an option 3.
Since when are coaches salaries....untouchable?

Many coaches reduced salaries during covid to help the school due to the pandemic.
Why wouldn't a coach consider it to keep his tenure and provide funding for improvements?
