How often do you hear the President of flagship universities talk about their athletic programs other than in very generic terms? Thank goodness 99% of the time they are focused on things like, oh, I dunno, academics.

Whit cares. He wouldn't have agreed to contract so heavily incentivized by football performance if he didn't care AND understand. However, he isn't just a fan. He has to work within the system. People that are close to Whit confirm that he is a smart, savvy individual who completely understands the situation and will work to get it right. Will he succeed? There are a lot of external factors to that, but to say "They don't care" is a giant leap to incorrect.
