I understand that, the point is there is far less of that available


VT is incredibly underfunded in academic merit aid as opposed to many or most schools. Many athletes need that to fill the financial gap (other state schools are similar). Want to know why uva is so good in Olympic sports? More supplemental funding that they do qualify for.
