You could do an I-94 trip. Catch I-94 in Indiana and stop at the Indiana

Dunes NP. Then keep going west into WI; Door County and Bayfield are a ways off 94 but very nice. (You may save those for your Great Lakes trip.) Keep rolling on 94 into MN. Looks like you hit Voyagers already. Maybe check out the the Riverfront Mill District and Minnehaha falls in Minneapolis or some of the state parks in Glacial Lakes region. On to ND; if you enjoy Lewis and Clark go to Mandan and Washburn. In western ND you have Theodore Roosevelt NP. Also Medora is nearby and has a lot to offer. Keep going west into MT. You got Little Big Horn along the way. Ultimately arrive at Glacier NP. Make sure you get there between early July to late September so that the Going To The Sun road is sure to be cleared of snow and open.
