Nail on Head

It starts with recruiting. Being able to close on some bluechip talent and recognizing the talent of the rest that are the best fit. Once they are in the door, they need to be developed. So, the next staff needs to be put together in such a way that everybody on deck is all in on recruiting and they have to also get the most out of the players in the weight room and on the practice field. The play calling and scheme is secondary if the talent fits. Simple enough to say, but every program from top ten to top 75 is trying to do the same simple thing. The fix is never fast and never guaranteed. One reason I was glad we didnt replace Fuente last year was because the new staff would have been entering a recruiting dead period for an unknown amount of time. The new staff has to use that new car smell to immediately start a progressive momentum shift and then show steady progress on the field. A lot of unknowns can derail that along the way and make life hard on the staff. Cross your fingers and hope we have plenty of luck along the way.
