I spoke to Coach D'Amour after today's game and he shared his thoughts on the weekend.

“There were a lot of teachable moments from the games this week. Our pitchers continue to dominate hitters this fall as they should."

"From an offensive standpoint, we’re not where we want to be quite yet. If we had a history of putting a below average offensive product on the field the last couple of years, I’d probably say “the sky is falling.” But we’ve been ok offensively in the past. We’ll be fine."

"I want to thank the fans that came out this weekend. From my perspective, having our players playing in front of a crowd is the most important aspect of fall games. Performance and decisions can definitely change based on if there are people in the stands or not. We can’t duplicate that in practice. I hope everyone comes back out next Friday.”

The hitting has been a bit hit and miss, but Meredith Slaw has been on fire with a home run and three doubles in the three games. We've had other bombs delivered by Bre Peck, Kelsey Bennett, Morgan Overaitis, and Grace Chavez.

The pitching has been absolute lockdown. Both Ivy Rosenberry and Mackenzie Osbourne look improved from last season and Keely has been Keely (6 total inning pitched with no hits and 17 strikeouts). Emma Lemley has just been silly - 11 innings, only 3 hits surrendered with 32 strikeouts.

That means Keely and Emma have pitched 17 innings (51 possible outs) and have a total of 49 strikeouts. That's just crazy - no matter the level of competition.

But I've said it before and will continue to say it - fall ball is all about getting playing time "under the lights" and playing someone other than yourself. It will be interesting to see how things shake out long term, but man, does it look like we got crazy depth.

Still, it's hard not to be a little bit excited.
