I think I know the area in question which is kids coming from Center St and
once you get in the area of gate 7 you are kind of stuck (i.e. not enough time or space to get to another gate without a major redirection back around Cassell. it is possible to go up to Gate 8 but you have to go against the flow of the large group of students and I think they are also flooding that gate too. There is a very large group of students coming in a short amount of time. There is really nothing the security can do as much of the problems begin before the cattle gates. So the question is do the cattle gates create a more chaotic situation on the outside of them even though they perhaps improve the situation beyond them.
Seems like the thing to do if you are "of age" is leave tailgating early and get your final couple of beverages in the stadium. Much easier said than done but at the end of the day the only thing that makes it better is people responding to displeasure. If it bothers you to be in a big crowd and possibly be late then do something different next time.
It is somewhat similar to going to the airport and being told you need to be there two hours early when if you do that you end up sitting for an hour in concourse waiting. Some people will just stop showing up early because of this but if everyone did that the system would collapse as far as being on schedule and somewhat orderly.
