Good day on the AT in Maryland rev3


Hike from Gathland State Park to the Ed Garvey shelter on the Appalachian Trail. Weather was sublime. Those of you who were around in the 70s might have heard of Appalachian Outfitters a camping store in Oakton, Virginia it was run by Ed Garvey -I met him there back in the day - (and past president of the Potomac AT Club etc.) so just for grins and giggles I finally made it to his namesake shelter, the nicest shelter on the entire AT. That’s Charlie the wonder pup in the picture.
