The bottom line is College football is COMPLETELY different in regards to escalating coaching salaries, guarantees, required support etc. We say Fuente has a good salary, now in today's world, that is normal pay that any g-5 program makes.

VT (both university leadership) and alumni contributor base, cannot keep their heads in the sand.

Question1 Does the university and alumni see the integrated link between the athletic department, the university and connectivity (and overall fund raising ) between the students, alumni friends and corporation?

Question: Do you want to sustain a consistent top 25 program in the power 5 world. y/n

1a. if yes, ensure the funding stream or resources allocated or obtained. (this could mean, either find more money, pull from the university other endowment (not likely) or cut sports)
b. if no, can a football program that is only average and not competitive, generate the amount of resources to sustain the other athletic programs of VT or we downsize.
c. if no, what would be the impact to overall university reputation, national prestige and contributions and available research.

Any hiring needs to be first class, (not any coaches from buck county a&m), that understands football, (can the guy coach good), marketing and communication and branding, and can recruit aggressively and media savvy. They have to understand the VT brand (as an university) and can sell it in the context of the football program, while understanding the blunt professionalism of athletes.... Hiring should be very aggressive in terms of diversity, and make bold hires... This includes the assistant coaches and support staff.
