The Star Trek world is portrayed as one where society


has essentially limitless energy (via matter-antimatter reactors), and science has fully unlocked the energy-to-matter conversion (which is how replicators, transporters, and holodecks work).

A solar panel makes absolutely no sense in a world like that.
