We have lost too much talent to NFL draft, graduation, and transfer portal over the years, and our recruiting is not good. Those poor overall numbers reflect both of these facets. One of the biggest detriments I have seen is that we have fallen so far with in-state recruiting. We used to own the state! Now, we're lucky to land just one of the top-10 or 15 ranked players in the state. We're consistently losing out to the out-of-state powerhouse programs, but now we're also losing out to other state schools too. If we can't recruit in our literal backyard, I don't see us ever landing studs from other states. Maybe, just maybe, we can hope to land a reincarnation of Mike Vick and that might change our fortunes? One can hope.
