Didn’t see it but VT preview by D1 Baseball lists a few

Aaron Fitt watched last Friday’s fall scrimmage vs Ontario Blue Jays and his article is linked below (subscription req’d). Here are a couple excerpts:

“Second-year righties Griffin Green and Brady Kirtner stood out the most…. Green started the game and struck out two of the three hitters he faced in a perfect frame, using his wipeout 84-86 slider as the out pitch on both Ks. A physical 6-foot-3, 205-pound righty with a loose arm action and some deception … [and] now looks like the strongest candidate to emerge as a potential Friday night ace….”
“A quick-armed 5-foot-11, 170 pounder with a little corkscrew action in his delivery that adds some deception, Kirtner’s pitch metrics were outstanding in his scoreless frame Friday: his 88-91 mph fastball plays up because of its elite spin rates (mostly in the 2500-2660 rpm range), and his tight downer curve at 75-79 also spins at an elite rate around 3000 rpm. His stuff is exciting, and he’s clearly on the ascent.”

Regarding position players - Fitt highlighted Cross and Schobel, calling Cross “a slam-dunk first-round pick and a likely first-team preseason All-American.” He also gave nice mentions to Penn grad transfer Malinowski: “a wiry athlete with surprising pop in his 6-foot frame, and he moves well at second base, where he should form a slick double-play tandem with Schobel.”

And for true freshman 3B DeMartini: his “tools leapt off the field on Friday. The Hokies started him in the cleanup spot, and he cranked a three-run homer on a line to dead-center in his first at-bat, then reached safely in all of his next five plate appearances, showing off advanced pitch recognition and plate discipline. He has a silky-smooth lefthanded stroke that produces regular hard line-drive contact, and he moves and throws well at both third base and short.”
