Considering NC State hit the crossbar and post, yes -- on another day this result could've gone another way and I think a draw probably would've been fair. Horrendous conditions in the second half for the fans, but players had to love that.

VT also had its share of chances. Emily Gray looked great yet again; she's so dangerous driving forward into the box and could've had a couple more assists with better finishing around her. Even VT's goal had an element of "look what I found here" from Karlie Johnson -- she seemed just as surprised as anyone Gray's ball made its way to her, but credit to her for coming off the bench in the second half and sticking the ball in the net.

Having Makenzie Graham return is an upgrade at right back. Still not sure what's going on with Ava Veith; she went through warmups and didn't play at all. If Emma Steigerwald is judged to be a better option at left back than her

Lauren Gogal came into defensive midfield to help lock things down after VT scored, and Emma Pelkowski has an absolute ENGINE -- she's tireless, combative, and can play anywhere across the midfield. She did some great work as well.
