I've done that before, since my drip machine doesn't do a "pre-drip"...


...to achieve the "bloom."

You won't necessarily notice more oils, especially if you are using paper filters. A metal screen filter will give you more oils, but if you want to max that out, go with a French press.

I only drink a couple cups of coffee each day, so I switched a straight "pour over."

Speaking of blooms, I noticed the coffee don't bloom as much once it is about two weeks old.
