The NCAA is tasked with the admin side of it, the conferences themselves decided the ranking and set up. That is the NCAA does anything, the conferences decide and the NCAA acts as an admin for those decisions.

I am really not agitated and I like the ACC a great deal. I even like the Hokies now. I liked them a long time ago and then I wanted them to rot in hell and then I liked them again. 2003 had a lot to do with that. Not what happened, but how.

The thing about West Virginia and I suppose West Virginians by nature is that we do not quit. We jumped out of the Big East when it was obvious it was going under. We have jumped in with both feet on the Big-12 conference and are working to bring in 4 teams now and 4 more later on.

While most are quick to say without Texas and Oklahoma, the Big-12 is nothing. But if you think about it, what value has Texas been since WVU joined in 2012? It is just the lose of Oklahoma and a Prima Donna that isn't all that besides being rich.

As of right now, the Big 12 with the addition of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF is probably on par with the Pac-12 for football power and in basketball only the ACC is a challenger. Bowlsby is telling the current members the new media deal looks like mid-20's but he also thinks that might edge up a bit. Not super money but with Tier 3 averaging 15 million for most, that puts the Big-12 members in the 40 million ball park. We can live on that.

There is also something to be said for being in a conference where no one is the "elite" telling everyone else how life is going to be. Texas left and that has all gone away. It has been surprising how well communications have been between the current schools. Does Tabacco Road make you feel equal? Probably not.

I know WVU is seen by many here as a natural fit and on the face of it I do as well. But we are not a cultural fit and that is never going to change. We will always have poor educational rankings because of our Promise Program and we will never get an even hand no matter how long we would be in the ACC.

The only way WVU ends up in the ACC would be as a last resort by both, because as much as the fans here seem to see value in WVU, the ACC has told WVU many times, "You are not what we want." You get told that enough, you stop going down that road.

As for the SEC, I for one believe they are done expanding. The 17+ conference arrangement is a fanboy thing, not anything practical for an athletic conference. Indeed, just a few years ago 16 was considered a bit shaky.

As for being agitated. I am. But not over this. I came to this site to calm down. WVU has hired one dofus coach after another since Rich pulled his stunt in 2007. Stewart was a senile, bitter old fart that should have retired, Holgs has beer bottle bottoms for glasses when his nose is not buried in powered and Neal Brown, spent all of 2020 at BLM rallies, trashing West Virginians and Mountaineers. He has no idea how to be a HC at this level. WVU does not have 6 years to devote to some yuck up to learn the job only to turn out mediocre before moving down to some unsuspecting school to fool them for more money.

I sincerely hope Virginia Tech rolls into Morgantown and lays the butt whooping of all butt whoopings on us. I would consider it a favor, can you?
