He said it was the only bench in the station, so I would think it was at least an 10-15 footer, maybe longer. You don't go to many Metro stops that only have one little three seated bench.

Regardless, it's a public space. If she's so tender, she should move or even consider not going out in public at night. Her "fears" in this case are completely unwarranted. He was paying her absolutely no mind.
