ACC/Alliance Needs to Push for 8 Team Playoff with the following conditions


1. Power 4 Conference Winners get 1st Round Home Field Advantage. If there are only 8 teams, Champions need to be rewarded somehow. Since they will not be getting a bye, I dont see how a neutral field game in the first round really rewards anyone. You also should win yourself this advantage based on regular season play.

2. 1 Spot for Big 12 Champion/Non Power Four Conference highest Ranked Champion. I dont think 6 champions are going to fly with the Big 12 taking the best of the rest G5 teams. If however a non Big 12 champion is ranked higher than the Big 12 champion, they should deserve this spot.

3. 3 At Large Spots with No More than 2 total teams from any 1 conference. If you are the 3rd best team in your Conference, you don't deserve a spot, period. You dont see the 3rd best team from a Division in the NFL making the playoffs and there would be much more playoff spots than college. I think the Alliance will all be on board with this.

4. In order to fulfill #1 and #3, ALL teams must be from a conference. There is likely only going to be 1 team that is against this and we all know who it is. However, 1 team should not be able to decide the future of the playoff for the entire College Football Structure and possibly the future of the ACC and PAC 12 conferences as a whole. Things need to be structured and now is the time to do it. If things don't change by 2035, we might be looking at just 2 conferences which would be horrible for the entire sport. Further, this would be like 1 team in the NFL getting special treatment when NFL Playoffs are determined. The time for getting special treatment in the post season is over. Notre Dame has consistently been playing in post season games they should not be in. I still have not gotten over when a Michael Vick lead VT Team coming off a National Championship with 1 loss to Miami lost a Fiesta Bowl spot to a very mediocre Notre Dame team with like 3 or 4 losses who ended up getting absolutely obliterated. The time for special treatment for Notre Dame should be over. I think the Alliance would agree when it would cost them a spot in the playoffs.
