I've no idea what the numbers are in India right now...


...but it's probably just an artifact of the news cycle. Delta is "interesting" here, so that's the focus of the COVID beat. And the international beat is pretty jam packed with Afghanistan at the moment.

I'm sure the information is there if you look for it, but the American news viewer's attention span can only take so many things at once.
