Per the link below, 40% of AF prep school students are recruited athletes. AF prep school also has funded football, wrestling and m/f basketball teams. Based on my experience, these sports have a higher percentage of knuckleheads so it makes sense that athletes would be sent to the prep schools to try to get them eligible.

Per the article below, West Point ignored the numerous infractions of the star QB. The recent Rick Singer scandal showed that coaches can get athletes accepted to the universities. I don't believe there are as many basketweaving classes at the service academies. Don't forget that Dexter Manley stayed eligible at OSU without being able to read.
