ND is not looking to harm ACC football


If Jack Swarbrick didn't push for a 12 team playoff, then ND should have fired him on the spot.

"Caring" about someone else does not include harming one's self in the process or forego trying to improve one's situation.

How does adding more playoff spots "harm" the ACC?

Can't the ACC improve its football to get more teams in the playoffs?

ND wants to stay a football independent. It also wants to expand the playoffs to survive as an independent.

That is all Swarbrick was doing, his job. Nothing nefarious.

The ACC would like to see ND's independence destroyed and ND forced to join the ACC.

Some ACC fans seem to think that ND should just roll over and let itself be forced into a conference.

There are no "bad guys" here, just different structures and interests.

That creates an inherent conflict and anger from ACC fans that ND will not drop independence and anger from ND fans that the ACC is attempting to force ND football to give up independence.

That is unfortunate, but that is the result of a bad TV deal that the ACC signed and series of contracts that the ACC signed with ND.

ND is not the culprit here.

The Irish didn't force the ACC to sign a bad ESPN TV deal, nor did it strong arm or mislead the ACC into entering into contracts with ND.

I agree that the ACC needs to take whatever steps it can (expand with Texas schools and WVU ??) to improve the bad TV deal other than expecting ND to give up football independence any time soon.
