Have done 100s of dives on Lake Mich wrecks and in quarries. Diving in

Dry suits or 14 mil semi dry suits in 40 temps, with virtually no visibility, sure sets a contrast to the warm water destinations - Caymans, Boniare, etc. Wrecks can be more interesting in the Lakes as they are better preserved in most cases, but can't beat the sea life and color on reefs. And if you learn to dive and get comfortable on the lakes and quarries where it is cold and you can often have near zero visibility, it makes the Caymans a breeze.

One of my favorite experiences in inland waters is diving Mermet Springs near Paducah, kentucky. Diving in dry suits below the second thermacline when the water can be crystal clear and watching large spoonfish which look like prehistoric creatures.
