Traditional bowl in the first round is essential

Using the major bowls in the first round is the way to go. Keep the traditional conference affiliations. That way, the Alliance (and SEC and Big 12 and probably American) gets automatic slots into the first round.

Get the Big 12 into the Orange Bowl or hosting a first round bowl, like in the Fiesta or Cotton. I'm sure they would rather be there than in the Sugar at this point. We could probably work ND into the Orange bowl somehow as an almost automatic ACC Orange bowl opponent in many years (as part of the remaining two best of the rest/independents slots).
