I spent the last day reading through it and chatting with others

Until there is ink on the paper with signatures of all parties, it is nothing but a PR sham.

Even then, what they did state in the "handshake deal" was that games with the P5 would continue uninterrupted. Huh? If you are not going to schedule around the SEC, what is the point of any of it?

While the Big-12 was not included, they did talk about it at some length which basically amounted to a pat on the back, "I hope you survive." sort of thing. At least they still regard the Big-12 as a P5.

Most of that is the media deal that Big-12 holds through July 1 2025. After that, who knows?

The other take aways were even more see-through:

We will try to schedule each other in the future.

Well, too what end? If there was nay value in the ACC scheduling Oregon or USA, it would be done by now. Even if true, scheduling is a few years out and a few years out is 2025.

They kind of hinted that they would not poach each others teams. We have seen what a gentleman's agreement gets when a conference wants to change its membership - ask Texas A&M how they feel about Texas being invited in by the SEC and how much clout their gentleman's agreement held.

On expansion:

The ACC's Ken Phillips decline to make any comment on the CFP expansion stating that much more research needs to be done.

The Big Ten is for expansion but has no idea how many teams should be in it or how they should be selected.

The Pac-12 is 100% behind it in any form it seems.

In the end this was DOA as it could be. Other than three conferences discussing this at the highest level, nothing happened. It would be foolish if anything did happen. Binding a conference at a time when so much is evolving is unwise.

As for the SEC, they must have watch this gauntlet being thrown down by the Alliance land like a Kleenex. If this was supposed to impress either ESPN or the SEC it was a total failure.
