The conference expansion part is so huge and the media

and others seem to be missing that. They are publicly putting a halt to any major conference expansion at the top level. Individually voting against the 12 team playoff that was condusive to many teams from same conference would not have the same impact as this alliance. No need for subsets of schools to plan exit strategies to SEC or B1G. No uncertainty in membership with the top 4 conferences…at least wrt losing members.
