What you or I say is meaningless
My "delusional" may have been as harsh as your "complicit".
Frankly, I strongly believe that the ACC Commissioner, Presidents and AD's were all well aware and convinced that ND football would not join, based on ND's history and many consistent statements to that effect.
What you want from ND is the one thing it strongly believes it cannot do without seriously damaging it's recruiting, brand and status.
Your example of adding Navy and only one other game is not reassuring in a world where ESPN and the ACC could quickly and easily vote a 9 or 10 game conference schedule for more money from ESPN.
ND would be a cooked goose for sure then and powerless to do anything about it.
You should direct your ire to ESPN, Fox and the conferences themselves (including the ACC) who started this process of realignment consolidation and gobbling up teams, not ND who doesn't want this to occur in the first place
It was the ACC who the predator not to long ago in 2003 and 2011-12. Now, it is the prey.
As far as having one's back, name one person or entity who has ND's back when it comes to maintaining its independence.
Not one ally on that critical issue for ND, especially not the ACC, who wants to destroy ND's independence for its own financial gain.
Nobody in the ACC cares about ND's best interests.
All the ACC cares about is using ND to collect more cash at it's expense.
So, no apologies for ND having its own back on that score.
