Based on this and the SEC factor


I’m starting to think that the best option might be to just go to a 16 team playoff. That’s still just four rounds, but forces everyone to play (no byes) and helps ensure more access (so that not just the SEC benefits).

Even at 16 teams, it would still be the lowest % of all the sports I listed. And it is a good point how the bowls are a unique feature of FBS. But I didn’t include them since they don’t give access to the national title competition.
