Duke's Shelby Walters entered the transfer portal last weekend


Per Justin's World of Softball, "Duke pitcher Shelby Walters entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on Saturday, sources confirmed to JWOS."

Walters was 19-3 this past season and led Duke in ERA with a 1.28 mark. She and Peyton St.George formed a very strong duo that led Duke to the ACC tournament title.

With 2020 Duke ERA leader Brianna Butler previously transferring to Princeton, that would seem to leave St. George to carry most of the the load in the circle in 2022.

However, the Blue Devils did add sophomore Jala Wright from Michigan State, who pitched 25 innings for the Spartans this past season. They also have true freshman Kennedy Barron arriving. She was ranked the #39 player by Extra Innings Softball.
