That is a good question.

I think I need to say I do not want WVU invited to the ACC but it is not only because of the perception of the poor cultural fit. WVU would have to give up the lucrative Tier 3 rights currently valued at 15 million. On top of that to drop down another 5 to 10 million on basic media rights. When you no conference to call home, even those reduced figures can seem like a bargain, but WVU will have a seat at some table if not at the ACC.

What other hoops there might be, I do not know. But the principle concern is still very valid. Rather than posters here assuring me that I am being over cautious I am getting the "we haven't done you the favor yet" sort of vibe and that I am "over reacting to something" or worse, VT had to put up with this when Rutgers and WVU went to the Big East and VT was locked out. That lock out by the way had nothing to do with WVU, who petitioned on several occasion to get VT in at the same time. Guess who stood against VT? Miami.
