If your production and maintenance employees have been coming on-site
all this time, I think it’s bad optics for managers to stay home. And, like my company, you can rationalize by saying you’re trying to keep as many people WFH as possible so those who have to be on-site can better socially distance. Some hourly employees will buy that, but many won’t. To them, it will appear that the company’s attitude is that the P&M population is expendable.
The only effective mitigation against the spread of Covid IMO is the vaccines. WFH, masks, lockdowns and the like have no appreciable impact. Prevalence of Covid amongst our on-site workforce is less than it is in the community at large. But we’re a manufacturer and can socially distance. Other industries, like poultry, pork and beef processing plants, don’t have that luxury.
