Then that is when they can justify and afford to pay more to each of the schools.

It's bigger than just saying that they can pay Clemson and FSU for cheaper in the ACC. If those two (or others) help increase the overall conference value elsewhere, then it becomes worthwhile.

As for contracts, I'm a firm believer than any contract can be broken if you have the right combination of sharp lawyers and money to make the problem go away. Nothing is impossible.
