This is a concern, but it could be worked out.


There is this notion that the second tier would be a joke, It would not be. And if you had some big name teams get demoted, which will certainly occur (hoping for Texas), this actually gives cache to the tier. While at the same time, there might be some underdog overachievers who win promotion who are in the top flight even though they seem out of place with the bluebloods (a Purdue or Kansas State maybe?).

And since money is going to be flowing, players on a relegated team would still be able to make cash. It is also in the best interest of the team boosters and fans to rally after relegation to make sure it is only a one-year stay in tier 2.

The bad thing about being in the second tier or lower is the TV money would not be as good. But every team looking to get promoted is going through the same thing.

The point of the system is that there IS risk. That's what makes it fun and competitive.
