The prospect/return will be interesting. Because of the (stupid IMHO) way


that Scherzer's contract was written with all of the deferred money, the Nationals could be paying him until 2028 ... OR they could take a lesser return and the Padres could assume the financial burden. My suspicion is that he will be getting paid by both clubs for a period. AND he becomes a free agent after this season and will likely get another 2-3 year contract worth quite a bit. Good to be Max!
