What VT needs to do to become more attractive

(1) a "no brainer" is to get better in football, and continue improving it's BB team. Mike Young is doing great things for the second. We need to do whatever it takes to up our football game. I think this upcoming recruiting class indicates a step in the right direction.

(2) After reading that UNC allows their students to use the UNC logo for their endorsement deals, VT needs to reach a similar agreement. That's an easy move to hopefully increase our athlete's payouts, and assist in recruiting. Would love for VT to have a team to assist our players quest for endorsements.

(3) Sands needs to push for AAU membership. Not football related, but it will make us more attractive to the B1X should the ACC implode. Really want multiple options if that happens, and not just pray the SEC or whatever the SEC morphs into will take us down the road.

(4) Fundraising! This is where VT needs to get creative. I still like adding the Clemson model to our current fundraising efforts, especially for recent grads. Get them used to donating a small amount like $10/month every year, and hope that grows into larger amounts. Wouldn't it be nice if VT instantly added 50K alumni who donate $120 per year? It would also be nice if we could convince non-Hokies to donate a baseball park like UVA did. That was a "wow" moment for me, but I'm not holding my breath for that one. Maybe our Vet school can save a Hollywood star's pet or something...lol I like having a Vet, MD and a DO school. Hopefully that helps both the school and the athletic department down the road.

(5) We can have an electric atmosphere at our games. We currently have a ~64K capacity, but it would be nice if that continued to grow. Maybe shoot for 75K in a couple decades?

(6) Getting back to our roots. We should constantly host coaching clinics for high school coaching staffs in the off season, especially when we can't contact players. The better our relationship with HS coaches, the more likely they will be to "talk up" VT to their players. Have an open door to ALL former players. If you wore the VT football uniform, you are welcome back to visit any time. Come meet the current players. I know our staff doesn't have the time during game days (or probably during football season), but there should be others who can help out. I'm sure we can find some non-football staff and/or student volunteers to help out.

(7) Electronic media. Lets face it, we absolutely suck as a "Tech" school when it comes to producing TV shows or even keeping a website up to date. We shouldn't hire anyone to do these jobs, except for students. Definitely hire them for these jobs, or give them credit for keeping these things up to date...or both. There should also never be a non-revenue game that isn't recorded, produced, and put online for ESPN or Hokie Sports. If this creates a financial burden for VT or Hokie Sports, charge a nominal "premium membership" fee to watch these games.

Anything else?
