Yes; in fact Japan is the country where you can actually make $$ playing.

Both recent JMU pitching stars (Ford and Good) play there part of the year. The pay is much better there than in the U.S. In Europe (where my daughter pitched) the pay is essentially room/board + some spending $$. Good deal for a season or two if you want to experience Europe but not a career move. Softball (nor baseball) will not played in Paris in 2024. Not surprisingly those sports aren't a 'French thing' (what sports are besides biking?) . . . . It will return in 2028 in Los Angeles.
