As a former coach in Blacksburg, I can attest that VT has a very poor financial aid program, as a university.

Part of this stems from our schools overall lack of “giving back.” This problem is not just an athletics problem, but a university issue. Despite our graduates’ obsession with VT, very few give back in substantial ways.

For example, a Louisville non-rev program can package a full scholarship offer, although only a small fraction may be athletics related.

I am particularly impressed with our baseball staff, and their ability to load up the roster. That sport is particularly difficult to manage with scholarships at VT. Even UVA has more options to push money around campus, despite their academic prestige
