We have depth now - not prior to the 20-21 season


The depth comes from two freshmen pitchers. Each showed flashes this season.

The problem was the ACC schedule used during this spring. There was fear of losing games due to Covid so it was decided to play 4 game series and limit out of conference games to a lower than played in previous seasons. So there weren't early games to throw the freshmen into the fire to see how they did. With every conference game being so important Coach Pete elected to throw his best arm to win almost every ACC game. So we went the safe and cautious route this season. But after having a full season for our freshmen to work with our pitching coaches plus the signing of two recruits that have strong pitching resume's leads to optimism for next year's pitching staff. I expect VT to utilize multiple pitchers going forward. We have the talent now and just need to get our full staff some experience.
