12 is even worse than 14.


With 14 at least you get an even amount of home and away in the division. It is also more competitive by having 2 additional teams.

The only way 12 would be good is if you have 11 round robin games and one OOC and junk the title game.

Conferences should be small enough to play round robin, or large enough not to need to play crossovers.
