beyond this weekend and for the next several weeks be prepared for some hugesous delays!

Below Marion your best best bet is to get off at Seven Mile Ford (Exit 39) and just follow the Lee HWY (Rt.11) all the way to Abingdon and Exit 19...although you could jump on at the Enterprise Road exit 22.

It's a damn mess. VADOT has been working on the HWY bridge just below the Chilhowie exit 35 for several weeks now. I-81 becomes one lane about ½ mile above the exit but that doesn't stop the traffic being backed up past Seven Mile Ford...we've seen it backed up 6 miles. We live at MM42 on the north side of 81 and we've seen traffic backed up to there on the weekend.

Then to add insult to injury VADOT is doing the same kind of work at the Meadowview exit 24. Again I-81 goes down to 1 lane about ½ mile above the exit. Today the traffic was backed up past the Glade Spring (exit 29). You can expect at least ½ hour delays depending on the time of day.

Take in the sights of Chilhowie, Glade Spring and Emory...eat at the Riverfront Restaurant in Chilhowie (it is a very good place to eat) or the Van Dyke Center Dining Hall at E&H. Spend 10 minutes touring the E&H campus. 😊
