They won't host, but they could still be a #1 seed


I don't believe they even put in a bid to host and consequently, they are not on the list of 20 predetermined sites that was released two weeks or so ago.

But they could still land a #1 seed and be sent to one of the preapproved sites, which would probably be home to a #2 seed. Not ideal for them, but it could happen.

A #1 seed gives a team a couple of minor advantages, such as an (supposedly) easier 1st round matchup and the home team designation in the 1st game and any subsequent games when the team have been the home and away team an equal number of times.
