Agree. Evolution of the ACC
Before Clemson and Duke started their teams, it was just FSU and everyone else just hoped that they’d catch up without putting money into their programs. NCState, UVa, Georgia Tech, VT, BC, Syracuse, UNC you name them all sat back and just HOPED they’d get better. As soon as Duke and Clemson started pouring money into theirs everyone was like, “oh $&;@?, we need to catch up!” Well it may be too late - we see what happens when $$ are poured into a softball program. Plus they had the benefit of the excitement of starting something new. It’s a double bonus of sorts. Yes, UVA spent $22M on their facilities 2 years ago but they’re starting basically from scratch without the excitement of a new program. In fact they are fighting decades of indifference from their AD’s. It’s just interesting to take a big picture look of how fast things are changing in the ACC.
