When you rent a car, you are one person renting one car. When you ship a cargo container, you are bundling it with thousands of others.

Imagine you need to rent thousands of cars. You're getting a very different price for that. Similarly, imagine chartering a small boat to carry a single shipping container around the world. That's going to be a very different price too.
